REVIEW: Guilty Pleasures (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter #1) by Laurell K. Hamilton

Anita Blake is small, dark, and dangerous. Her turf is the city of St. Louis. Her job: re-animating the dead and killing the undead who take things too far. But when the city’s most powerful vampire asks her to solve a series of vicious slayings, Anita must confront her greatest fear—her undeniable attraction to master vampire Jean-Claude, one of the creatures she is sworn to destroy...

A friend of mine suggested I read these books and start with Guilty Pleasures so I read this for fun and enjoyment and man was it one of the best  ideas .

Absolutely loved this book, through the whole book I was trying to figure out the mystery of who the vampire killer was.

The storyline and plot are one of a massive expansive world full of dark creatures and the humans that thy prey on.

Its like nothing I have ever read before and its such a must read if you love the dark side of paranormal mystery and the creatures and intrigues that go along with that world.

Anita Blake is such a badass character but she has a side nobody rarely sees, a side that genuinely cares about the humans that get hurt in the aftermath of supernatural creatures. Her empathy for zombies that are raised is beyond compare.

One other character I absolutely loved and he pulled on my heartstrings with what he has gone through and still is going through is Phillip. He's such a wonderful complex character, the more you learn about him the more it saddens you.

Jean-Claude hmmm at first I loved his character, he is the epitome of a vampire. Charming, sexy, seductive and alluring. But he has a devilish streak and what he does to Anita makes me want to stake him along with the master vampire.

This is one author I will be reading more of in fact I ordered the next book in the series already.

4 stars
