Jane Eyre meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer in this addicting Gothic Fantasy!
Determined to escape her possession, Rachel wields her demon's magic and accidentally launches herself headlong into another century, straight into the arms of sadistic and possessive Lord Gräfen.
Gräfen is an evil "Mr. Darcy"-- a land-holding, old school vampire. When Rachel appears at his Gothic mansion, her human frailty captures his interest, and Rachel is soon his captive.
Trying to elude Gräfen's sadistic courting and surrounded by a bedlam of servants, Rachel attempts to befriend the count's enemies in order to escape. But the lines of good and evil are not always clear, and Rachel finds herself in a deadly tangle.
Can Rachel find a way to escape Gräfen's serfdom, or will she become eternally obedient to his voracious and unnatural demands?
Such a wonderfully well written novel by Cheryl R Cowtan. A great second book in the Fergus she vampire series.I fell in love with the series after reading Girl Desecrated and I couldn't wait to read Master of Madhouse. This book did not disappoint one little bit, it brought a new type of love interest into Rachel's life.
Grafen is one scary character, I never know if he is the bad guy or the one keeping Scarlett/Rachel alive. He is intimidating and sensual all wrapped into one character.
Rachel keeps trying to do things she thinks will save the innocent people or herself but it keeps ending in disaster. It makes you really wonder if Grafen is just doing what is best for her.
At the end Angus shows up with the crazy Scotsman gang and again proves he is the most untrustworthy person in Rachel's life. It brought a tear to my for what he does to her and in turn what she has to do to Grafen.
