Chiara doesn’t like Jack. Jack doesn’t like Chiara.
The story should end there.
Except . . . maybe Chiara finds herself daydreaming far too often about Jack. And maybe Jack finds Chiara aggravating in an adorable sorta way.
Maybe Jack and Chiara find themselves falling in love.
The problem, of course, remains.
Jack is a ghost.
And Chiara is not.

Jack Knight-Snow has had a bad year for losing things. So far he has lost a ship full of ancient treasure, his family, his friends, his title, his lands and money, his fiancĂ©, the century into which he was born . . . oh, and his physical body. Worse, feisty Chiara D’Angelo might just finish the job and make him lose his mind.
For her part, Chiara simply wants to help Jack get his body back and move on with his life. She doesn’t want to like his snarky humor or his gorgeous eyes or the way he accepts her exactly as she is. She’s a hot mess when it comes to romantic relationships. Case in point . . . she’s developing feelings for a ghost.
But tackling the problem of Jack’s ghostliness is not straightforward. Soon, Jack and Chiara find themselves embroiled in a mystery which creates more questions about the D’Angelo brothers’ gifts of Second Sight. Set against the backdrop of Tuscany, Italy, Jack and Chiara race to uncover answers about the past before becoming history themselves.
Though the third book in the Brothers Maledetti series, Lightning Struck is a full-length, standalone novel.
Although it can be read as a stand-alone novel, as someone who has read the previous two Brothers Maledetti books I couldn't have loved this book more. Nichole Van is a brilliant writer, infusing the characters with their own unique personalities, and creating a family full of people you can't help but love and root for as they face their life-threatening challenges. So many twists and turns in not only Jack and Chiarra's lives, but the lives of all of the brothers.
The story of Chiara and her hot ghost, Jack will not let you stop reading as Chiara, her triplet brothers, Dante, Branwell and Tennyson try to find a way to release Jack from the purgatory of his trapped condition, dodge the mafia and wonder why that horrid black sludge keeps trying to snatch Jack away, all while trying to learn more about the curse that has driven the D’Angelo males crazy for multiple generations. I eagerly await the next installment.
What a wonderful author I cant wait to read more of her books.
5 stars
An Amazon bestselling author, Nichole Van is an artist who feels life is too short to only have one obsession. In former lives, she has been a contemporary dancer, pianist, art historian, choreographer, culinary artist and English professor.
Most notably, however, Nichole is an acclaimed photographer, winning over thirty international accolades for her work, including Portrait of the Year from WPPI in 2007. (Think Oscars for wedding and portrait photographers.) Her unique photography style has been featured in many magazines, including Rangefinder and Professional Photographer. She is also the creative mind behind the popular website Flourish Emporium which provides resources for photographers.
All that said, Nichole has always been a writer at heart. With an MA in English, she taught technical writing at Brigham Young University for ten years and has written more technical manuals than she can quickly count. She decided in late 2013 to start writing fiction and has since become an Amazon #1 bestselling author. Additionally, her late 2016 release, Love's Shadow, was selected as a Whitney Award finalist.
In February 2017, Nichole, her husband and three crazy children moved from the Rocky Mountains in the USA to Bridge of Weir, Scotland. They currently live in a former Victorian orphanage nestled in the Scottish hills and enjoy long walks through the countryside and along the lochs.
