REVIEW: Stone Silence (sound of silence # 1) By Taylor Dean

Great big beautiful love.
Does it really exist?
Everyone tells me it does. They say, “Spencer Elliott, don’t worry, you’ll find it one day. You just have to find the right man and when you do, it will surprise the heck out of you.”
I’m still waiting for that heck of a surprise to hit. It has proven to be elusive thus far. I’m pretty sure the entire world is lying about love and the joke is on me.
I know I want a man in my heart and in my life. Unfortunately, most men immediately push my OFF button and I lose interest quickly.
Feeling pressure to prove I’m trying to find my soulmate, I finally give in and agree to a date. Huge mistake. Afterward I find myself abandoned in the middle of nowhere, in desperate need of help.
That’s when I meet Stony by chance.
He’s a silent and unsmiling man who intrigues me with his ability to keep going after life has knocked him down. Suddenly the abstract notion of love becomes tangible and within my reach. Once I experience it, I wonder how I ever lived without it.
That’s when I stay with Stony by choice.
But when Stony’s hidden past and present-day reality collide, his silence is broken. And the truth about his life nearly brings me to my knees. I can’t compete with ghosts from the past.
I refuse to fight for a man’s love. He either loves me or he doesn’t. It’s as simple and as complicated as that.
My only hope is . . . he does.

A lovely read I was excited to find a author that isnt all about the act of love it was more about the falling in love part and that is wonderful. Its great to see that there are still authors that are keeping it all about the love. A book that would be great for young adults to read.
This book was full of those emotionally charged moments that I crave as a reader. It's more than just chemistry and physical attraction, although that is there in abundance as well. There is a building intensity throughout the book and I was so caught up in it. I honestly could not put it down. [This is where I freely admit how annoyed I was at EVERYTHING that pulled me away from this book the day I was reading it.
Stony is a man with a furrowed brow and very little smile and he is respectful and kind and a man of few words. Intriguing indeed!
Spencer is a woman who just can’t get into dating and has dated very little and wonders if her “great big beautiful love” will ever come to her. She is not on a good note when her latest date is not a good guy at all and just drops her off in the middle of nowhere Texas with no money, phone or water. She walks and walks until she collapses at the feet of Stony! He cares for her sunburn and heat exhaustion because the roads are flooded now and they are stranded.
As they get to know one another, they fall for each other’s personality and they are kind of perfect for each other.
The story is told in Spencer’s POV. The characters have meaning and character and the story is really quite cute!

This puts a great spin on some old fairytale romances. I just adore these newer versons of great fairytales. It makes you start thinking about what other things could have gone differntly.
This was a wonderful read. Ive read a few from Heather Moore in the past and I always like her so I was interested by this book. It had a story by her and other similar authors that might peak my interest.
These are all short, novella size stories which lend themselves so well to reading here and there when you have a minute or two. They are all clean and sweet. I love these Timeless Romance Anthology Collections.Every one of the stories is creative while still being recognizable. The authors did a wonderful job of pulling me into the story quickly and keeping me guessing as to how things would resolve. I thoroughly enjoyed all the stories.

It's all about the books. Friends, family, school, "real jobs", they were just obstacles to be tackled so that I could return to my true love: books. All I have ever wanted in this world is to read and write books. My criteria for choosing a purse is that it must be able to fit a paperback book inside. I took books on my honeymoon, and bought more while we were there. I picked my major because it looked like I would get to read a lot of books, and also I thought it would provide me with interesting background information for my own books (which it did), so I now have a BA in Humanities -Comparative Literature with a minor in Scandinavian Studies. From the time I was twelve on up, I told people that I wanted to be a writer. When they said, "So, you'll teach and then maybe try to write a book?" I would just shake my head. No, I was a writer, and that was all I wanted to do. Over the years I have lived in Idaho, New Jersey, Delaware, and now Utah, because it doesn't matter. I can read and write anywhere. I've worked at a wedding invitation factory (Bet you didn't know they made them in big scary factories, did you?), at a video store (back at the birth of DVD), at libraries and bookstores, and even been an office lady at a school while I waited to get published. I knew that I would be published eventually, because . . . well, I just had to be.
Now, don't get me wrong, I have other interests. I took eight years of German, four of Norwegian, and even studied Old Norse so that I could read the great Viking sagas in the original language. I knit like a maniac: hats, scarves, sweaters, dog sweaters, socks, felted purses, you name it. I play the piano and viola, love to travel and to watch movies. I have a husband and three kids and a dog . . .
But mostly, it's about the books.

What an amazing book I just could wait to read this. As im from Montana it was very cool to see about based on my home state and not to mention that my hometown is where one of the main characters went to college. Just very very cool stuff right there.

I emediately got hooked into this story and i read it within 24 hours. I just couldnt put it down. These characters are gripping and pull you straight into the story.

Chris me oh my what a hunky gorgous and sweet caring man the perfect mixture of all things in a man. Hes very talented and amazing at what he does with his carvings and add his architecture talent hes even more impressive.

Kennedy is quite a fascinating woman. She doesnt think she has ever been in love in fact after her most recent relationship failure she isnt sure she cant fall in love with anyone and it tears her up inside.

After meeting chris everything changes for Kennedy. It was expected, she thought she was going to take a long break from men. But that is definitely not the case and a few twists and turns cause this fast romance to get serious fast.

I just loved it, there was no waiting to learn about the characters and for the plot to get explained. This author jumps right into the heart of the story and pulls you right into it.

REVIEW: The Madam's Highlander By Madeline Martin

What's the madam of a successful bawdy house in Edinburgh to do when she finds one of the English supported Black Watch soldiers needing to desert his post? She helps him, of course - but there's a high price to pay.
***novella was previously in the Historical Hellions and Lords of Love anthologies***

This is quite the amazing novella. I couldnt put it down and I read it in about 4 hours time. I just adored everything about it. The characters the scenarios going on just all of it was amazing and wonderfully well written like all of Madelines books of course. I am an avid reader of anything she writes, she is truly amazing at what she does.

Freya is the madam of a well known bawdyhouse in edinburg. She does many things other than run that establishment. She helps the poor, gives food and blankets to needy soldiers, she helps women in need learn new skills so they can get back on their feet. She is not just a one thing wonder at all.

Ewan is a scottish man that joing the British army to overcome his father being labeled as a traitor by the British army. He brings his men to her establishment but never actually partakes in the women just sits and drinks his tea at the bar.

These two characters fight and go to war with eachother over a simple issue and she ends up saving his life and protects him after he leaves the british army.

Its an amazing love story and what you find out about freya is crazy and amazing and not something you will expect.

REVIEW: The Queen's Opal By Jacque Stevens

the queens opal by Jacque Stevens

Elves never use magic or leave the forest.
They aren’t supposed to get sick either, but Drynn’s mother just died from a mysterious illness, which has targeted the elven queens for generations. With no female heir left, the symbol of the curse—a green stone called the Queen’s Opal—passes to Drynn. Unwilling to lose another family member, Drynn’s impulsive and overprotective brother drags him out of the forest to search for a cure. And the oft-diseased humans seem the most likely place to start.
But the opal isn’t all that it seems. Once outside the forest, it shows Drynn visions of the first queen—a time when the mortal avatars of the lost gods walked the earth and the humans and elves lived in peace. Much has changed in the human lands since then. It’s a darker world, ruled by power-hungry wizards who covet any kind of magic. Magic like the opal. Magic like the natural energy the wizards can see inside the elves.
More than healing one illness, Drynn’s visions call for him to restore the world’s former peace, but if the wrong wizard learns about the elves’ innate gifts, even the forest will no longer be safe.
Family bonds will be tested. Friends will become foes. With two kingdoms spiraling into chaos, can a shy bookworm conquer his fears to bring peace to the realm?
The Queen’s Opal is book one in a new high fantasy adventure series set in the same magical and exotic world as The Stone Bearers (2016).
This coming of age story will appeal to teen and young adult fans of the TV show Avatar: The Last Airbender, Cinda Willams Chima (The Demon King), Christopher Paolini (Eragon), and other works of epic sword and sorcery.
Clean Read. Fantasy violence and a few darker themes. Recommended for young adults and teens twelve and up.

0.5. The Frog’s Princess (2016)

3. The Queen’s Heir (Coming 2018)

3. Fairy Ring: Prince of Janderelle (Coming 2019)
Others:
Winter Falls: A Tale of the Snow Queen (2017)
Depths: A Tale of the Little Mermaid (Coming 2018)

I am a big fan of this author. I have read a few of her books and she is such a wonderful author. She delvs right into these amazing fantasy worlds that she creates and I just love it.
Oh what a wonderful book. Drynn is an awesome character. Not like any of the other elves in this book. Hes quiet and keeps to himself loving his books and learning anything he can. His brother loves to drag him out to go practice fighting even though he hates it. Which is utterly entertaining.
Drynn goes through so much in a short amount of time. Losing his precious mother to a disease that attacks elven queens for generations. As she was the last of the female heirs for their family the queens opal is gifted to Drynn for safe keeping.
The visions he gets are amazing I am definitely looking forward to reading more from this series and of course from this author who is a favorite of mine.

REVIEW: Seon's Freedom: Found by the Dragon (Book 2) By Lisa Daniels

In a world that condemns magic wielded by humans, Seon has that ability. It’s not an impressive one to her, but it’s enough to get her killed, should the wyrms find out about it. She practises in secret, wanting to discover her true potential. Unfortunately, wyrms patrol the town she works in, and it’s only a matter of time before she has to flee – or be discovered and killed.

Enter Artiz. He’s visiting the town to see a friend, and he scents the magic emanating from her soul. Instantly, he barges in, intending to persuade her by any means necessary to come with him. After all, he comes from a place in the mountains where they teach magic. And he’s supposed to help scout talent, and whisk them away from the claws of the wyrms that would kill them.

Lovely expanse on the Dragons and wyrms. I loved this its a great read. It brings you into a world full of fantasy and mystery with humans, dragons, and the evil wyrms.
Seon is a gifted human rescued by a determined dragon set on keeping her from being caught by the wyrms. I love the romance between the dragon and the human magic wielder. Just what I like to read! Great storytelling!
I am extremely intrigued by this series and the author that writes it. I love the way she pulls you into these characters worlds. She is truly an awesome writer.

Lisa Daniels is a (young) retired school teacher who resides in Miami. After five years of teaching, Lisa Daniels found that it wasn’t quite the world that she wanted to inhabit. After leaving her position, she moved to Miami. She hasn’t regretted it.

In her worlds, Lisa Daniels creates characters that go beyond the usual narrative. While they definitively include romance, Lisa Daniels strives to make the worlds more real with characters that are more than just cardboard cutouts of the genre. All of the main characters (and many of the secondary ones) have a rich history that span much longer than the stories themselves. This makes it easy to weave the stories together so that you can see characters you met in previous tales and see how they have managed since.

The Dragons of Letera is her first standalone series. Letera is a world teaming with romance, action, and stories – it is a world that Lisa Daniels loves to explore with her readers, one character at a time.
