Review: A SEAL's Proposal (Sexy SEAL Novella #1) by Tawny Weber

A SEAL’s Proposal is the first book in New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author Tawny Weber’s Sexy SEAL Novella series, part of her Bestselling Sexy SEAL series.

Being the best means making sacrifices, but do vows made at 16 hold true at 24?

Duty First, Duty Only…
As a teenaged Sea Cadet, Sam Morelli joined the elite club his brother formed with other teens, focused on a single goal: to become Navy SEALs. Membership required a vow that once he became a SEAL, the team would be his only commitment. Distractions like relationships or dependents would be forbidden. Eight years later, on the cusp of achieving his goal, Sam has forgotten that vow. But Bryanna Spencer hasn’t.

Sugar, shoes, and a sexy SEAL…
Numbers whiz Bryanna Spencer loves chocolate, designer shoes, and Sam Morelli. She’s always dreamed of one thing: being Sam’s wife. Raised in a Navy family, she knows the rules: to be a great SEAL, a man can’t have a woman weighing down his thoughts. Bryanna’s been nibbling on sweet, sexy, better-than-chocolate-covered-caramel Sam for four years, but Sam’s dream of being a SEAL has been with him longer. His dream is her nightmare.

Some vows are made to be broken…
With Sam home on leave for Christmas, Bryanna has one last chance to prove to Sam that he wants her more than he wants his SEAL Trident. But time is running out. Once he finishes the last phase of his training, she may lose him forever. But Sam may have different kind of vow in mind…

Review - 4 stars!

A promising new SEAL series by Tawny Weber and the first novella was a blast.  It was, as usual, an amazing read.  I am never disappointed by Ms. Weber and I’m glad to see this holds true for this new series.

Normally, I’m not a huge novella fan unless it’s part of a series that expands on secondary characters.  However, I was pleasantly surprised about this one, although I shouldn’t have been seeing as this was Tawny Weber.   The normal novels I’ve read by her haven’t been lengthy anyway, and I never really notice, which means she’s really good.

The story fit the length nicely without feeling empty or rushed.  I liked both Bryanna and Sam and their chemistry.  I kept rooting for them, which is funny because I knew somehow it would work out.

Ms. Weber also keeps you intrigued about the secondary characters who appear in this novella, leaving it open for more in this series.

The Good:

The oh-so-sexy heat between Sam and Bryanna make every second of this little gem a quick, entertaining read for any romance fan!  There’s nothing quite like a hot, muscled military man in love with a sassy, sweet woman who loves him back.  The fact that the story is well-written and flowed so well that you never realize you just devoured it in one sitting helps!

The Bad:

The only issue I had with this novella, besides wanting more of course, was that I didn’t relate well with the female half of this romantic tale.  Bryanna went so far out of her way to do things for Sam to prove something.  I wouldn’t do that ever.  I would go out of my way to please a man because I love him, not to prove a point.  So it was a little hard to empathize much with Bryanna.  I don’t understand the reaction that she had to possibly losing Sam is all.  That is just personally ME though.

Overall, this novella is an excellent start to another great series by Tawny Weber and I will definitely pick up the next one.
